Dredge pump designed for muck, sludge, mud and plant waste that can be easily removed from bottom. Pump is NOT designed to remove hard packed clay. Large volumes of sand will increase wear. The result can be prematurely worn out internal components. Stones over 1 inch in diameter can cause premature wear and if constantly ingested may cause damage.
Trying to run a 3 inch dredge with cheap trash pump and use a 10 inch wide box. I have to explain that the 10 inch wide box is too small and the velocity is too high to catch gold. So was looking for info on pressure needed for suction dredge. i cant find no numbers says this much psi for this size dredge. Ive heard of trash pumps being used on dredges and dont see no use buying a high dollar motor for a dredge if this one can put out the water needed. If use a 3 inch intake might have enough for something.

I just got back from the New 49er claims in on the Klamath in Norcal. It took a while to make it work right but I was able to run my 4 inch dredge. up out of the river. I used a 3 inch semi-trash pump to fill a big hole with water. That 3 inch pump can put out a lot of water. I put the dredge in the hole.

Depends on what you are running.They work great on a highbanker but not good on a dredge over 2inch.A dredge pump such as Keene or Proline deliver a lot of water under high pressure hence the high price.I run a trash pump on my 2 inch dredge highbanker combo because it was affordable but any larger of a unit you need the power of a good dredge pump.
