The 1943 catalog lists a model 15-C vertical mill for large/heavy work; the 1950 version shows some other heavy duty mills. The Guide Book (1946) is a general reference for all the products, and includes some simple HowTo's for pantograph usage, custom machines, etc.

Have a small gorton mill, not the model listed. Mine has the #9 B&S spindle. End mill tooling is scarce, but can be found. Insert type fly cutters and facing mills are much more difficult. Price should be dependent on the tooling and presence of a DRO. Lots of used mills out there. Unless its well tooled and has a DRO hold out for one that does.

I know these mills came with a pantograph attachment for copying profiles. I saw an old Gorton ad from the late 30's saying that Gorton mills were used to make the Hoover vacuum cleaner bodies. I don't remember the particulars of the Gorton but you need a pattern or master that is under the pantograph for the machine to copy.
The Gorton is a nice mill, although for the money being asked for this one you can get at least a serviceable Bridgeport. The 9J was offered with a variety of spindle tapers; if you don't like the one this one comes with talk to the folks at Wells-Index about your options. A regrind to either R8 or #40 is probably doable.
